Living Jewishly — with intention, curiosity, and heart
by Hadassah

When I first began exploring Judaism, I didn’t know where the path would take me — or whether I truly belonged on it. All I had was a deep, persistent pull toward Jewish life — its rhythms, its questions, its unapologetic embrace of tradition and transformation.

Over time, that quiet pull turned into a journey.
A journey that changed my life.
A journey that, eventually, made me Jewish.

Why I Started This Blog

The Chai Life is a space for people who feel that same pull — whether you’re:

  • Just beginning to explore Judaism,
  • Actively considering conversion,
  • Already on the path and feeling a little lost,
  • Or supporting someone you love on their journey.

This blog exists to tell the truth about what the conversion process really looks and feels like — the beautiful, the confusing, the sacred, and yes, the awkward. I share personal reflections, practical tips, Jewish learning, and honest encouragement for every stage of the journey.

There’s no “right way” to do this. There’s no perfect Jewish story. But there is a path for you — and you don’t have to walk it alone.

What You’ll Find Here

This blog is part memoir, part guidebook, part love letter to Jewish life. I’ll be sharing:

  • My personal conversion journey
  • How to practice Judaism before you officially convert
  • What to expect with the beit din, mikvah, and more
  • Navigating imposter syndrome or feeling “not Jewish enough”
  • Books, classes, and resources that helped me
  • The spiritual and emotional realities of becoming Jewish

I’m not a rabbi or scholar — I’m just someone who’s walked the path, asked the questions, and learned (sometimes the hard way) what it means to build a Jewish life from the ground up.

I don’t have all the answers. But if there’s one thing Judaism has taught me, it’s that we’re not required to have answers — just the courage to keep asking.

Wherever you are on your journey, I’m glad you’re here.
Let’s keep growing — and questioning — together.

Shalom,
Hadassah

Quote of the week

“Every Jewish journey starts with one small step—light one candle, say one blessing, ask one question.”
